One game to rule them all

Tonight I played a special battle. It was the first one with my girlfriend (hopefully not the last). I made up 2 forces: galadhrim and mordor. I tried to make it as easy as possible and explained all at the time she needed to know it. And she did great for her first game!

My mordor force consisted of 33 orcs, 9 mordor uruk-hai, grisnakh, captain, shagrat and kardush the firecaller. Shagrat is the leader.

Elite armies of mordor

My old passion: Elite armies of mordor. These guys are really enjoyable to paint. Just a few drybrushes and highlights are needed to make them look good.  Totally different from the galadhrim who need much more attention to fine details. I batchpainted these guys, and it took me 40 minutes for every figure. Galadhrim normally take me 90 minutes, so I was amazed by the speed. Actually pretty logical as you only need to paint metal and black 90% of the time with these guys.

Black numenoreans, they look cool, but the guys with swords up tend to have the problem that their swords break off. And they are a little bit too small for pinning.

Visiting Edoras: First Warrior of Rohan

The first Warrior of Rohan is finished. I did this one separately to create my painting guide for the rest of the Warriors. For the green cloak I first had a more bright green, here's the final result:

A whisky painting night

It sounded like a great idea. So today I decided to give it a try :-).
Finally, I have again a full evening that I can commit to painting. I've been busy and practically didn't paint the last few weeks. This year I commit myself once again to paint more then I buy and to buy more then Games Workshop releases.

Tonight I'll start finishing everything still on my desk:

Some orcs that really need some more paint.

New project: Radagast on eagle

This is my first post on this blog, so a little introduction maybe? I am stefaan, and I have got 2 main armies at the moment: mordor and galadhrim. I am at the moment working on the galadhrim and have got a lot finished already. Now the only problem with this army is that it has no big guys or monsters in it who draw atention.

So this is why I am starting this new project. I moulded radagast from the radagast on sleigh miniature as this pose seemed perfect to me to use. I have spread the legs more, and used 2 tiny magnets to magnetize radagast on the eagle. I will use some extra green stuff to hide the magnets and to hide the gaps where the eagle's wings start. And afterwards painting of course!

New project: Radagast the Brown on Sleigh

Today I finished cleaning Radagast the Brown on Sleigh and is ready for basecoating. I really like the miniature and can't wait to get started. The cast was very good and I had little work to get it cleaned and fitted.

I'm going to work on this project while I'm working on my Rohan project 'Visiting Edoras in 2015' so you will get updates of both (alternatingly).
